Living os ssi and starting out in life on SSI due to epilepsy, because I have had it since I was 17 I can not get medical, I fell like I am being punished for it, does any one else have this problem of not being able to get affordable medical, and because I can not get medical out side of SSI I can not work, and job sights are to afraid to hire me, in the past my longest job was 3 years only because they hired me as a tax right off, when I sighned up for SSI I had 20 or so W2 forms and got it my first try, from what I here no one gets it their first try.
If you are on SSI, how do you get credit %26amp; medical to work to get off because all my income is unearned?
Contact the local SSI office. You should be able to get MediCare, which is the government funded medical insurance program. Some states also have their own, called MedicAid. In California, the MedicAid is called MediCal. Other states may have their own names for it as well.

Are you currently on SSI? If you are then you could get Medicaid through your state which is not bad medical insurance from what I hear. Contact your local public aid department. If you are a new applicant then yes it can take awhile to get approved depending on what state you live in. First decison takes on average of a 120 days from when DDS makes its first decision. It does seem that most people do get turned down the first time. Unfortunately medical insurance is very expensive if you pay yourself. I believe companies get tax credits for hiring disabled and many people do work on SSI so don%26#039;t give up. Try vocational rehab in your state if you are serious about trying to work. Unfortunately, you are not eligible for Medicare.
