If I change my surname ( in the UK ) following divorce from my existing married name and revert to my maiden name, can I just advise the relevant authorities by letter and what proofs do they require? For example ... Income Support, Child Tax Credits and my Post Office card account. Also will my Income Support claim continue during my name change or do I have to make a complete fresh application? Who else should I tell?
Does anyone know ........?
I have done this myself. You can call yourself anything you want to as long as it%26#039;s not for criminal reasons. You can revert to your original name as long as you inform all the proper departments because your birth cert will already show your name. Income support will just change the name and will continue from the date the change takes effect.
Does anyone know ........?
Michael, did you change your surname to your wife%26#039;s surname? silly boy.

i think u can change your name if u r divorced u just need to go and get a change of circumstances form or maybe a change of name form not sure but just give them a call and they will be able to tell u everything u need to know.

If she requires to change her name-- she must go to the births deaths and marriages centre. That is where all the information is kept and i do believe she will need a solicitor and there is a fee. They call it change the name by deed poll.
I dont know if you can change it back literally without divorcing first. Anyways seek advice from a solicitor they should be able to advise you there..
