Income tax question

Do you need to claim income if you cash in on a credit card perk IE; reward points for using a credit card?

NO. You only claim income that gets reported. In other words, if you get a W-2, a 1099 form, etc, then you must report it. I%26#039;ve never heard of anyone getting a W-2 or 1099 or anything like that from a credit card company for perks or points that had been cashed in. After all, you spent money to get that dividend back, it%26#039;s not really income.
